Cloud hosting platforms often suffer from a bipolar user experience: they are either too watered-down and restrictive for IT professionals, or highly intimidating and jargon-heavy for everyday retail users.

Maxcloud—a comprehensive web platform for deploying VPS, IP routing, and advanced networking—needed to bridge this gap. The challenge was to architect an interface that serves both ends of the spectrum without alienating either.

The Design Strategy

As the lead designer, my core responsibility was to translate highly technical server configurations into intuitive, accessible user flows. I adopted the strategy of Progressive Disclosure: keeping the primary dashboard clean and approachable for beginners, while nesting advanced customization layers (like custom networking and load balancing) deeper within the interface for technical veterans.

Key Features & Implementation

Load Balancing (Visualizing Traffic)

The Challenge: Distributing server traffic is a complex concept usually handled via command-line interface (CLI). The UX Solution: I designed an intuitive, node-based configuration flow. Users can visually set up routing rules, weight distribution, and health checks, turning a daunting sysadmin task into a seamless point-and-click experience.

IPv6 Management (Simplifying Protocols)

The Challenge: Allocating and managing next-generation IP addresses can confuse even intermediate users. The UX Solution: Created a straightforward management interface for claiming, routing, and attaching IPv4/IPv6 addresses to specific virtual machines. The design emphasizes clear network mapping, preventing accidental IP conflicts.

The Dashboard Redesign & Iterative UI

The Challenge: The platform needed to scale and accommodate new features without breaking the existing layout. The UX Solution: Spearheaded a complete overhaul of the primary client dashboard. I established a modular UI component system that allows new features to be integrated seamlessly. This continuous UI refinement reduced cognitive load and maintained strict visual consistency across the entire ecosystem.
